Hip Hop Thursday with Unity

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

CHECK OUT THE SALE AT UNITY TODAY!  30% OFF - see details on the blog here.  And the new scrapbook kits are down to $15 each!

I am thoroughly enjoying using my new stamps from UNITY.
Yesterday I received the new Scrapbooking line sets released this SEPTEMBER and was able to whip up this layout of MYSELF.  I am having trouble believing that this photo is 11 years old.  WHERE did the time go?

I REALLY love ticket stamps and with these, I decided to stamp the tickets in a row and cut them out.  I stamped SPRING time months, because that is when this picture was taken.  I love that you can choose hearts, stars, and flowers for the ticket or leave it blank and use it for journaling.

This is me on my graduation day from university.  My Dad bought me a 12 string guitar and had my name engraved on it.

I had this banner lying around, so I threw that on the layout too!  I made it a while back using Good Times Vintage Banner stamp set from UNITY, fabric, and Shimmerz Spritz.

I used the block and arrow from Explore Today & Everyday.  I stamped the block onto KRAFT cardstock and cut it out.  I messed up on my hand writing, so covered it with good old WHITE OUT.  The arrow was stamped, cut out, and painted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

And here is another layout I made using the heart from Donna Downey's stamp set "The Artist in You", and the scalloped circle, "a love beyond measure" and measuring tape from LeChic Vintage set.

I stamped the hearts onto the background paper, then again onto patterned paper.  I cut out the heart and glued it onto the layout.

Here you can see the scalloped circles and a love beyond measure stamps.  I thought that this photo of my daughter was so peaceful and still and thought that the title, stamps, and psalm just FIT.

FLIP FLOP HIP HOP Thursday - and a SNEEZE!

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY FLIP FLOP HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

Today we are switching things up a little and the UNITY design team gets to work with IPPITY stamps and the IPPITY design team gets to work with UNITY stamps!  How is that for a flip flop?

So, when I went through Ippity's catalogue of yummy stamps, I felt drawn to Moon Beam & Heart Strings.  I immediately had a vision for a baby layout and you can see it below.  It turned out just as I had hoped AND took only about 30 minutes total!

Since I had my last little muffin in November 2009, I thought I should acquire this CUTE set for layouts.
This layout is entitled "SNEEZE".

If there is anything I've learned lately, it's about "being conscious of my color palette".  To make this QUICK layout, here is what you do:

 1. Stamp the moons and stars image repeatedly from left to right (make a line in pencil to keep you on track and to keep your line straight.)
2. Adhere the patterned paper (2 x 12 inch strips) with a stapler making folds.
3. Match Copic markers, color image.
4. Adhere stars, embellishments, title, and printed journaling.
5. Stamp "Welcome Little One" in the corner.

Now it's time to hop on over to Jessica's crafty blog... enjoy the rest of the FLIP FLOP!

My NEW 36" Ribbon Organizer!

Since I joined the Design Team for Simply Renee, I have been enjoying the life of an organized scrapbooker!  Well, for my ribbon anyway!  I just want to show you a before and after...

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I even made my own rolls out of a paper towel roll....this fits nicely into the ribbon organizer.

And for all my other "off the roll" trims and laces, I used chipboard, old ribbon packaging, etc...to hang the rest with the bar that on the underside of the ribbon organizer!  Truthfully, I could use probably 3 ribbon organizers, just because I am a ribbon junky!

Once I get it on the wall (in my UNDER CONSTRUCTION) craft room, it will be fully functional and I'll show pics!

You can see my full post on the Simply Renee blog HERE.  AND, you should really check out what Renee is doing for her work with the Tim Holtz Design Team.  She is quite the ARTISTE!  You will be amazed with what she has done so far.

Happy ORGANIZING!

And here is a card I made for FALL!  It's finally here!

A Hip Hop Thursday!!! ACHIEVE!

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY hip hop - a BIG WELCOME!

Last week, I made a layout layered with embellishments and "stuff".  Today I bring you.....something a little more SIMPLE and STAMPY.  If you notice, there are no patterned papers on this layout. I rarely do this, but I thought the beauty of the stamps was enough to carry this layout off.

This layout is entitled "Achieve".

I started out with this picture and fell in love with this HUGE swirl flourish from the UNITY set **Where You Are**, a Donna Downey set.  I used an ink color that matched the background in my photo, and stamped it 2 times to frame the photo.

The quote is from **The Artist in You**, also by Donna Downey.  The date stamp is from a set called **Sweet Loving & Living**.

I bought some new watercolor paint by Luminarte called Radiant Rain.  I used it to make a backdrop for my TRUTH BIRD, from **She Did It Anyway**.

Don't you just love UNITY stamps!

Did you see the new stamps created for the SCRAPBOOKING LINE?  Here they are!

A Color Challenge (Pink, Blue, and Brown)

GLUE ARTS WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!!!  See the Glue Arts Blog to see if you are a lucky winner from this weekend's blog hop.

For today's crafty business, I am bringing you a layout that I made for a contest, because I can't resist a good contest.  Scrap That! is having a color contest, entries due Wednesday, to use colors inspired by their current kit.  Since I love love love this color combo, I decided to play along!

I just watched a SHIMMERZ video tutorial by Bethany Kartchner (see it here) on using their paints and a credit card to add color to your background paper.  I was so inspired to try this, that I got out my paints, and began crafting.  I have 2 colors of Shimmerz Pearlz and they happen to be pink and blue, so perfect for this challenge.  The brown you see there is a swipe of an ink pad.

So when I got some stamps from UNITY Stamp Co., there was a BIG bird (Free to Be Set).  Here it is stamped with blue and brown ink.  The stamp You and Me is from (Lovely Bits and Baubles Set).

This BIG bird cage (Free to Be Set) calls my name!  I am drawn to using it for some reason.  "So Sophie" was on the tag of a MME paper, so I used it, considering, Sophie is my subject!

Again, here is that film ribbon by Tim Holtz.  Love that product, it's quickly getting used up!  The measuring tape is an oldie but a goodie from 7 Gypsies.

And here are some more Unity Stamps (flowers).

Happy crafting!

A NEW STORE Kit from UNITY!

IF YOU'RE HERE FOR THE GLUE ARTS HOP, PLEASE SEE THE POST BELOW...  :)

All About the Journey and Bold Insight are the newest Store Kits to be released from Unity Stamp Co.  (that means being sold in stores ONLY).  I was lucky enough to get All About the Journey to use on my travel layouts!  My sister's in-laws moved to Israel, so they took their 3 kids and went on a vacation to the Holy Land!  Here is a layout of little Jacob walking in the underground tunnels of the Western Wall.  I've never been to Israel, so I am living it through her amazing pictures (she is a WONDERFUL and TALENTED photographer.  You can see her blog HERE.

Here is a picture of the stamps so that you can spot them on the layout.

I spy VACATION and ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY!

I spot an ARROW and a framed QUOTE.

I love tags!  I use them quite a bit.  I stamped the calendar stamp over and over until the left tag was covered.

I love this quote!  It is so versatile, I could see myself using it on quite a few projects or cards.

Have a HAPPY weekend!

A Hippin' Hop Thursday - WELCOME TO MY GRANDPARENTS

Good morning and good day UNITY fans!  Do you love all things vintage as much as I do???  Lately, I have found a love for scrapbooking my grandparents, these are my Dad's parents.  They were the grandparents that we were closest with.  Whenever we went to visit them and sleep over, my grandfather would sneak into our rooms at night and put jujubes under our pillows.  We would look forward to waking up and finding 2 or 3 little candies to munch on before breakfast.  Something only a grandparent can get away with!  It's these little things that I love to remember.  I also remember how IN LOVE they were.  This layout is entitled "With You".

I love these postage frames by Tattered Angels!!!  I love using lots of ribbons and findings too!  So you see those feathers?  It's a feather ribbon that I picked a long long time ago.  Finally found the perfect place for them.

This vintage car was originally white embossed chipboard from Tattered Angels, sprayed with Glimmer Mist and I added some drops of blue Shimmerz for a little something to make it different.  I then went over it with a dark brown chalk ink to make the embossing come through. See the script under the car, that's a UNITY stamp from LeChic set!

Here is my newest favorite UNITY STAMP!  Yay!!!  It's the Vintage Postcard that I stamped onto fabric.  At a antique store, I once picked up a bag of old postage stamps, so I thought I just might slap one on here!

Ahhhh, and my second favorite UNITY STAMP!  This block from a set called Loving & Living.  It's vintage feel is perfect for my latest obsession with scrapping old photos.  And the Tm Holtz film ribbon, do you see it?  I love that product, I think I will use it sparingly though to make it last.

Just in case you want to see the stamps, here they are:

LeChic (script)

In case you missed it, you can see a 3 minute video tutorial on my other blog LESLEY LANGDON TUTORIALS to see how to make fabric postcards using SHIMMERZ spritz.
