Spellbinders Explore Beyond Blog Frenzy Day Two

Welcome to day two of the Spellbinders Explore Beyond Blog Frenzy!

See below for how to play along for your chance to win some Spellbinders giveaways!
For official contest rules, see HERE.

How exciting for me that you're here on my blog!  I thought I would share with you some pieces of jewelry that are completely re-creatable and the earrings especially are great for kids or people who can't stand heavy earrings, because they are so lightweight using the Shimmer Sheetz from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Supply List:

Beadalon Jumprings, Ear Hooks, Headpins
We R Memory Keepers Big Bite 2 Crop-a-dile
Crystal Beads from Fire Mountain Gems
Tools (Round Needle Nose Pliers, Wire Cutters, Flat Needle Nose Pliers)

Instructions:

Step 1:
Cut Spellbinders Nestabilities S5-157 Labels Thirty (dies #1,2) from Shimmer Sheetz, cutting four of the smallest ones (die #1) and two of the second largest ones (die #2).  You may have to run them through the machine twice and in a different position to get a nice cut.

Step 2:
Emboss the die cut shapes using Spellbinders EL-024 Butterfly Kisses M-Bossabilities (Side A), and make sure to use the right plate combination when embossing with the folders, using the base plate and the Spellbinders GC-008 Grand Calibur Raspberry Spacer Plate.

Step 3:
Punch small holes in both the top and bottom of each die cut.  Gather your jewelry supplies.  You will need:
2 ear hooks
14 larger jump rings
4 smaller jump rings
6 head pins
6 crystals (or other beads)
tools (round needle nose pliers, wire cutters, flat needle nose pliers)

Step 4:
Assemble one earring at a time as shown, opening up jump rings with 2 sets of pliers.  Be careful not to open them by pulling the opening apart, gently open it so that it stays in a circle shape, and bend it slightly to allow an opening where you can feed through the die cuts and other jump rings. Close the same way.

Step 5:
To make dangling gems, thread a bead onto a headpin, and using the Round Needle Nose Pliers, form a loop with the headpin and wrap excess wire around the space in between to secure the bead.  Trim with Wire Cutters.

Step 6:
Adhere Want2Scrap purple gems to the earrings for extra weight and bling!

Thanks for coming by and seeing what I made for you today using two of Spellbinders NEW releases this Winter CHA 2013!

What I love about Spellbinders, is that you are not limited to cutting paper.  As you can see by my first project, I was able to cut AND emboss plastic!  In my second project, I was able to cut another plastic that is shrinkable and what you know as Shrink Plastic, or Shrink Film, Shrinky Dinks.  Amazing that you can cut these materials, as well as cork, felt, canvas, vinyl and more!

Dyed Cheesecloth and Hand Made Bead Bracelet
