Life is Good - Unity Hip Hop

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  We at the Langdon house were sick - 4 out of 5 DOWN AND OUT.   The only one OK so far, is the baby, and thank goodness, because I can't stand to see a baby being sick, they are so helpless.  But after all that, like the WHOS in WHOVILLE, we still had a wonderful Christmas.
On to the hop!

Hip Hoppin into Christmas!

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Christmas filled with love, blessings and miracles!  Enjoy every moment of holidays and hopefully, find some time to relax.

Today for the hop, I pulled out the NEW December 2010 Kit of the Month!  That is me and my husband, almost a decade ago.  Holy cow!  A decade.  I can't believe how fast it went.  And I still love hanging out with him, being with him, having him home with me.  He has been sick for the past few days and I secretly am happy that he's here with us.

I used 3 stamps from the December Kit on my layout.  Below is the quote which I thought was perfect for this picture.  I used some cream paint, and Shimmerz on top to dress up the brown paper.

Here I used that cute sewn image and used some Stickles to dress up the heart.  You can also see that journal block.  I think it's my favorite stamp in the kit.  I used it several times on the layout for backdrops.

There is that stamp again!  I stamped it both on cream and pink paper, trimmed and tucked them in behind other papers.  That flourish was cut with my Silhouette.  Those cute numbers are from Echo Park Be Mine collection.

Some INEXPENSIVE Gift Packaging Ideas for Christmas, a Video Tutorial & My Earrings Winner!

Christmas Flower Clips with Glue Arts and Graphic 45 Papers

For Glue Arts, I made this Christmas Flower, and if you love Graphic 45, we were making projects all week long on the Glue Arts blog, and there is a giveway!  Check it out!

CHRISTMAS COOKIES

COOKIE WRAPPING
Last year, I remember running around trying to buy cookie tins, from Re-use centers to Dollar Stores.  I still spent about $30.00 on wrapping my cookies.  This year I have some new stamps and found an INEXPENSIVE way to wrap my cookies!

Just take some kraft paper (a roll that you can pick up at a post office or big box store).  Cut out a piece, stamp 100% Certified Homemade as many times as you want, and then stamp COOKIES.  It is KEY to wrap your cookies either in plastic wrap or a zip loc bag so that the oils from the cookies don't stain the wrapping.  My first attempt, I used waxed paper, and the oils came through.  Wrap with wool or twine and give them away!

AND NOW FOR THE WINNER OF THESE EARRINGS:

I want to thank all those that left a comment on the earrings.  We ended up taking all the comments at Simply Renee, and combined them with the comments on my blog, and chose a random winner!

Merry Christmas Janet Z!  You won the earrings with this comment:

Hip Hop Echo Park!

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

Some brand new ECHO PARK stamps have been released at Unity this week and I REALLY like them.  The stamps match their Be Mine collection and they are vintage inspired stamps.

In the meantime, before I could get my hot little hands on them, I played with the first release "Boys Will Be Boys".  And since I have boys, I couldn't be happier to work with these stamps.  And also, creating more BOY and HUSBAND layouts was a goal of mine in 2010.  I beat my 2009 numbers, so that's something.

"@ FIVE"

I found this older photo (from 3 years ago) of my son trying to plow over his Uncle, and I KNEW it was perfect for these stamps.  I thought I would focus on the number FIVE and use up some old stash of chipboard pieces.

To create FAUX DIRT, I spritzed some Shimmerz mist (Jenni B Bleu and Mud Pie) and then stamped the saying over top, followed by journaling.  The title was the last element to be added.

I just love how the CAUTION SIGN totally fits this picture, don't you love it when everything comes together?

TODAY'S PROJECT
Here is my project(s) for today.  I used the stamps to make tags that will accompany jewelry that I made for gifts.  These were supposed to be quick gifts, and I think it took about 30 minutes for each pair of earrings.

All tags have been sprayed with Shimmerz spritz, then inked with various chalk inks and/or paint.  The butterfly is a die cut from Silhouette.  After the tags were dry and stamped, I was surprised at how vibrant the Copic markers came through!  Especially on that heart!

To make the butterfly tag, I used the side of the FRAME stamp and used it several times, mixed with the smaller floral image.

Before you go, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite new stamps from Iron Orchid Designs and Unity:
