More Playing with New Stuff!

Last weekend, my friend Jen and I drove to Kitchener for ScrapFest and there were so many great vendors there! I picked up some stamps from companies like The Greeting Farm, Stamping Bella, and Unity Stamp Co. The first image I wanted to stamp was this darling angel from The Greeting Farm. I just adore it! She was coloured with Copic markers and placed through the good old Cuttlebug with my Spellbinders dies.

I was also playing around with my Black Magic Core'dinations cardstock and Scor-Pal to make this triangle box and distressed flower for the top. I used a sanding block and some tearing to get at the colour core. This product is so unique!

Trying New Products...

I have been working on this canvas for 2 weeks now - coming back to it, thinking about it, wondering what to add to it, what to take away. The inspiration came from my Tattered Angels shimmer mist and a brick stamp from Prima. I first designed the backdrop by spraying it with Seafoam shimmer mist and then applied the stamp with Espresso Adirondack ink. I know I wanted to use my new Prima paper and flower ensemble, and my new birdcage stamp from Basic Grey. The rest was undetermined.

What I discovered in this journey:
  1. I love the Ranger acrylic paint dabbers! I used POOL colour to paint my canvas sides and to add some variation to the edges of the canvas and to the brick pattern. I also used it on the clip, on my chipboard #2, on the torn paper edges, and a little on the grungeboard flourish.
  2. I like my new Basic Grey stamps (bird cages)! Although I applied Ranger Glossy Accents and it warped my paper, but in the end, I was able to bend it back in shape and pop up with foam.
  3. Flower soft is versatile. It adds so much texture and can be used anywhere! I used cream coloured flower soft under a few flourishes.
  4. I love Seafoam Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist and I want to spray everything!

A New Beginning...

My time with Cornish Heritage Farms has come to an end. While I am sad to be going on my way, I am also looking forward to new opportunities. I spent the last 18 months with CHF, having the opportunity to design with high quality rubber and working with AMAZING talented women from all over the world. The images were always fresh and unique, the techniques and tutorials plenty, the dedication to customer service extraordinary. You've got a great company Richard and Liz Pomeroy.

Now onto new beginnings, I have been asked to design for my favourite on-line Canadian store Lisa's Scrap Shack. I have been shopping there for a couple of years and have always received top notch service, great prices and great selection of new products. I am so excited to start this new venture and get to know Lisa and the other Canadian girls who will be designing alongside me.

As I say goodnight (really I'm off to watch American Idol), I want to leave you with a card that is chalk full of CHF stamps (Fine Houndstooth Scrapblock, Rummage Bin Story Book, Motivational Centers).

Off to catch some singing!

Saturday March 14th

Today was supposed to be a great day - I was going to pull off the BEST surprise party for my hubby. He had no idea, that is, until I had to cancel everything yesterday while my dear husband laid beside me in the hospital with a ruptured appendix. SCARY to think what would have happened if he didn't end up going to the hospital when we did. They said it ruptured 2 days before. It could be fatal if not treated. Off to clean the house and plan for my next hospital visit. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Here is a Mother's Day card I made a couple days ago for the new Mona Lisa Moments release over at CHF - Mother's Day Centers. This is a set full of Mom related sentiments. And I can tell you, I need to make one for my Mother who has been invaluable these last couple days.

Dress Up Day

OK - so my niece is 10 years old, and my sister insists on dressing her daughters up for pictures (because she is a photographer and has many play clothes, hats, feathers, etc. for the kids to play with. And just as I am writing this, my 3 year old comes down to the basement in a newly acquired Snow White gown....precious. I guess she borrowed it from her friend today. Girls are all about the dress up days. So, back to my layout, Jessica is hilarious, had to jump in with the little cousins and get dressed up for Mom's photo shoot and hold a teddy bear to boot! She actually adores Winnie the Pooh do this day and if she is anything like my friend Marisa, she will wear Pooh sweatshirts and pj's even in university. :) Love ya Marisa.

So this layout is a concoction of Graphic 45 funky papers and the contents of a Bad Girls kit. Love my Bad Girls kits, but sadly my sub came to an end. If the dollar gets better, I am re-subbing. They have THE finest kits out there.

So - as I can't make a project without ink, I used my NEW favourite ink colour LETTUCE by Adirondack to smudge all around the layout. Mmmm ink. A must have, is Ranger's Cut n' Dry Foam too! This ensures great and blended application of inks.

Supplies:

Patterned Paper: Graphic 45
Cardstock: Prism

Inks: Adirondack Lettuce and Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger

More Elvis Hits the Shelf!

Over at Cornish Heritage Farms, two new Elvis stamps were released on Thursday! Elvis on One Knee and the "Elvis Is" logo. The silhouette image is great for shadowing and kissing technique as it has so much white space. I combined both cards with Distressed Grid 6x6 Scrapblock (TM) stamp. I speak so highly of these 6x6 stamps because they are SO big and have so many uses on so many projects.

You can click on the images for a complete supply list over at my CHF gallery. Thanks for stopping by! Off to teach a class at Forever Scrapbooks in Burlington!

Question of the day: What lesson or new tidbit of information did you learn today?

My day has just begun, but I will make a point to observe something new. I am going to so many places today that surely I will learn something new.

Many blessings....

Travel....

Hello people...Happy Monday. I am off for Family Day today. It's Ontario's 2nd annual holiday. So far, we went to see The Bee Movie and then we went to play glow in the dark mini-putting. My husband and I decided that we would never do that again with a 3 year old. Especially a grumpy one. When we got home, we had lunch and then I got to work with photographing some of my latest creations. This one is my favourite from a batch of 6 cards that I whipped together over the week.
