Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Shimmerz EQUALS Flowers!

I am so very very happy that I now have the Spellbinders Grand Calibur!  Since it cuts 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper, it can cut all the layers for one flower at a time.   I have 2 sets of nested circle dies from Spellbinders, so I just run them through together, with one sheet of paper (this is a great way to use up paper too).  Here is a picture of all the flowers I made in a sitting (I sprayed them all with my NEW Shimmerz products - see below).  I cut one of them out of FABRIC too!

Here is a picture of my new tool, the Grand Calibur.

And I couldn't resist showing you these beautiful new sprays that came to my door on Friday, courtesy of SHIMMERZ!  This is a collection of ALL of their new sprays!  The bold colors have NO shimmer, just color, and the subtle ones are all SHIMMER (metals) and NO color.

Here is a picture of all the dies I could fit onto the BASE PLATE.

Here it is going through the machine, which is SO SMOOTH.  Whatever mechanism they put inside, it is incredibly well built, sturdy, STICKS to the table with a secure suction, and is a smooth run through.

Here are all the circles that I cut.  To get them all crinkled, I spritzed them first with BRONZED BOMBSHELL Shimmeringz and the Pink Stiletto COLORINGZ.  For some reason, doing this makes the paper RIGID when it dries.

Once the paper is completely saturated, take them in your hand and crinkle them all up.  Leave for about 3 minutes, then unravel and let them dry.  Do not flatten them out, just unravel.

Layer them and glue them all together, and there you have a QUICK die cut flower!  Buttons, beads, brads, etc. can be your center.

Now didn't that look easy!  In person, the green one and pink one look like leather.  It's so weird.  It must be the SHIMMERINGZ.

Have a wonderful SUNDAY!

Glue Arts Teams up with May Arts Ribbons!

It's Glue Arts and May Arts (Ribbons) week over on the Glue Arts Blog and it has been a wonderful week full of inspirational projects, home decor, candy containers, projects that the kids can make, etc!

Here is my project, made with beautiful May Arts ribbons (they REALLY are high quality ribbons).  It's a gift box that is about 8x8, so that means that the flower is HUGE.  I would say it's about 7 inches big, all glued together with my Glue Arts Glue Gun.

If you want more information on how I made this, go to the Glue Arts blog and see THIS POST.  Oh, and make sure to leave a comment over there, because there is an awesome giveaway!

I used a label from a Samantha Walker stamp set from Unity Stamp Co.  The dies are label dies from Spellbinders.

Glue Arts is so amazing, they are graciously going to give someone $50.00 in products in the form of a gift card!  GO TO THIS POST on my blog for the details: Glue Arts Giveaway.  You have until the end of February to enter.

A Winner...

There were so many great ideas from yesterday and I loved so many of them, especially the tricked out scooter for Grandma.  Because there were so many cute ideas, I couldn't pick myself, and I went to my trusty Random.org to generate me a number.

SO, the WINNER of this bicycle flower from yesterday's comments chosen at random is:

I think your flower is so cute! I hadn't seen one made as you have this one and with the stamping onto the fabric - great idea. I would love to win it and I would wear it in the summer to dress up a t-shirt.

Deborah, congratulations!  Email me at lesleylangdon@cogeco.ca to claim your flower.

Hip Hop Thursday - Do You Want This Flower?

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

I have something special for you today!

A Giveaway - This Bicycle Flower (about 7 inches)....

I just love how this project turned out, but I do have a problem!  I really don't know what to do with it!  It is a HUGE brooch?  Is it a gift topper?  Is it a clip to dress up a purse?

So here is the deal.....you tell me what you would do with it, and from those comments, I will pick a winner on Friday!

Here is the stamp set I used LOVE LIFE by Melody Ross.  I stamped this cute bicycle with a basket and flowers onto some canvas that has been spritzed with Shimmerz mists.  This flower was kind of an accident.  I was planning on a layout, and using some canvas.  I stamped the bicycle on a strip and tried to bunch it up.  Then I noticed how cute just the tires looked when they were all ruffled.  Then I saw that GIANT Prima flower sitting on my shelf, waiting for the perfect lumpy project and it all came together.  I matched up some May Arts ribbon and got out the sewing machine and the rest was history.

If you don't win and want to make one, here are the instructions...just click on the images to see larger images and to see the directions.

I even finished off the back for you with a piece of fabric that was die cut with a circle die cut from Spellbinders.

I used some U-Cut-It 3D foam, my Glue Glider MAX, and some sticky Adhesive Squares from Glue Arts!  Here is a link to the full post with instructions for the tags!  If you leave a comment there, you could win some Glue Arts products and something from Shabby Chic Crafts!

Hip Hop Thursday with Unity Stamp Co.

Good morning and good day!  If you're here for the UNITY HIP HOP  - WELCOME!

Before we get into the project for today, have you seen the new Kit of the Month for February?  Look at all that art!  All the possibilities for both card makers and stampers!  Here it is:

There are some really great scrapbooking stamps in this kit that I can't wait to get my ink on!

For today, I want to show you a piece that I made for Unity's Booth at the Winter CHA 2011!  How I wish I was there.

I used one of my favorite kits from Unity, and designed by Iron Orchid Designs: Good, Pure, Excellent.

I just love how it turned out.  I really love the look of teal and orange together.  This is an old PRIMA box (made of wood) and I turned it upside down to make it my very own canvas.  In fact, I applied canvas to it with GESSO, then spritzed it with a GOOD amount of Shimmerz Spritz.

I stamped the stamps onto paper, I inked the quote with Distress Inks and drops of water, and then I treated both quote and image with 3 coats of UTEE (embossing powder)  I was able to crack it after 3 coats.  There are lots of gorgeous Prima flowers on here, and I really like the look of those vintage style frames from Little Yellow Bicycle.  A perfect match for IOD stamp!

Up The Street Scrapbooking Kit Reveal!

February is here and so is the reveal at Up The Street Scrapbooking kits!

I made a video of me opening the contents just so you can get a sense of the AWE I feel every time I open one of Tara's kits.  If you can manage to sit through me oohing and awing, I highly recommend watching it, then visiting Up the Street to see what it's all about!

Here are my layouts from the side kit "My Shabby Valentine".

Here is another layout with this COOL embossed paper, where I applied Shimmerz Paint (Tickle Me Turquoise) to the left, bottom, and right hand sides.  Also did some stitching!

I cut out the papers with a Spellbinders Circle Die (used 1/2 of it when I ran the paper through).

Path Finder - I love this one because it has a Biblical quote on it and is a reflective piece for me.

I used some new Spellbinders Dies (Parisian Accents) to accent this layout behind the stunning Prima flower and beside the image.  I used the glitter ribbon (applied with Glue Arts Ribbon Adhesive strips) to make a rectangle frame behind my main focal area).

Here is one layout so far, made with the other side kit, Let the Sun Shine.  I love blue and yellow together and using this kit allowed me to stick to my goal of creating more BOY layouts!

Those pop ups are by Sassafras Lass!  I almost used the whole package because they belonged!

Click here to visit Up The Street

If you happen to buy a kit, you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
