CHF Sketch Challenge - August 20th

This sketch is our first 8x8 sketch, just in time for Kim Hughes' paper release!!! Mocha Chica. Congrats Kim on your new paper, I love it! I don't have mine yet, so I had to use my own stock.

New Scrapblock and 3 New Designers at CHF!!!

Well - exciting news. CHF just welcomed 3 new designers to the team: Carole Burrage, Jennifer Roach & Joanne Allison. Welcome ladies!!!

And I might have to say that this new "Aged Sheet Music" 6x6 Scrapblock (TM) is my favorite!! The Scrapblocks are a new size of stamp to hit the market and are manufactured by none other than Cornish Heritage Farms. Ingenious! I love making 6x6 cards, so this is an ideal and useful backgrounder for me.

Thursday Rummage Bin Nights: Week #4 The Ticket Counter

This week's featured stamp set is The Ticket Counter. This for me, is a gift giving set, meant to engage with friends and family through cards, and add tickets to layouts as well. You can invite a friend or significant other to Dinner and a Movie, offer a free night of babysitting, give a tin of homemade cookies with a card that has a ticket for homemade treats. Afternoon Tea is my favourite stamp, along with the tea pot. So I have used those for my featured project below.

Project: Summer Tea Box

1. Place scrapblock onto table and ink. With our hand inside the box, press down onto the stamp, ensuring that it does not move. Repeat to other side.
2. Stamp ticket with pink ink onto photo paper. Stamp afternoon tea in black. Cut out ticket.
3. Glue ribbon to the center of the box, all the way around.
4. Glue ticket to front.
5. Stamp tea pot on a cut out circle on photo paper in green. Die cut a scalloped circle out of photo paper, and use pink ink to dye it. Glue together.
6. Thread string through tea pot tag and tie it to the metal handle. Thread some beads to the 2 ends.
7. Fill with specialty tea bags.

CHF Scrapbook Layout Challenge #7

I created this sketch for yet another challenge at CHF. and I am so impressed with what Alli Miles and Julia Stainton did with it. My take is below. So I actually altered most of it by using those 2 huge photos, but I just loved them without cropping them down (my nieces).

A Truly Relaxing Getaway!

I actually relaxed. I spent the days reading, which I hardly ever do! I swam with the kids, napped, and did only a tiny bit of scrapbooking. I did not really have a huge desire to pull out all my stuff while I was away and I think I needed this break. I just wanted to share with you some pictures from my vacation. We rented a cottage just outside of a little town called Haliburton. It's about 2 hours north of Toronto.





I want to go back...and the best part - satellite TV! We didn't miss any shows, like last year I remember missing the season finale of Hell's Kitchen.

Thursday Rummage Bin Nights: Week #3 Photo Op!

When I dreamed up Photo Op!, I had a desire for distressed finishes for photos, on top of photos, around corners, etc.  I wanted these stamps to cover a 5x7 photo or less.  My inspiration for this set was old photos and film reel.  A bracket for good measure, who can't use a bracket? The FRAMED and PHOTOGRAPH stamp are meant for journaling with photos, I have used these one a lot. 

I adore the scalloped edge and I use it quite a bit.  You can see here on this card, the scalloped stamp bordering the bottom, using a light pink ink for tone on tone.

For this layout below, I stamped the film corner and the "this photo tells a story" stamp.  For the latter, I stamped it on a blue piece of paper and cut out for an embellishment, so that I could have it peeking from behind.  This is THE quintessential Photo Op! layout, totally what I had envisioned.

Thursday Rummage Bin Nights: Week #2 The Great Canadian

This week, I am digging into "The Great Canadian" stamp set. I am a Canadian and I love my country very much. When I think of Canada, I think of four glourious seasons, the ability to travel and escape (plenty of vacation destinations), moose, hockey, vast rural areas and farm land, and people who love their coffee. Dare I mention our beloved Tim Hortons on every second street corner?

I could have put some more characteristics of being Canadian, but wanted to keep this set light and fun. I'm sure there will be people who may question just how "Canadian" this set is, but remember, this is just my interpretation. The eh? stamp is in there, because I had a little extra room, and like it or not (at least in Ontario), it's something we say! We don't even know it! Whenever I am abroad, people know right away that I am Canadian, and I will ask, "how did you know?", and of course their response is "eh?".

Here is my layout that I created just for this Thursday night! I got out my Spellbinders Nestabilties and went crazy with the circles, layering, and stamping. I tried to use as many stamps from the set as possible. My in-laws have a cottage, so of course I pulled a picture from "cottage country". I also pulled out a picture of our beautiful sunsets on one of our many lakes. I have seen 3 moose in my life, and they are HUGE! Really, a beautiful creature, but you never want to get too close, you won't win.

I was able to pull pictures from Winter, Summer, and Fall, sorry Spring, next time! Well, I hope you like what I created, this was a fun project to remind me of all the blessings I have right at my fingertips. Born and raised Canadian. Thanks for stopping by!

Thursday Rummage Bin Nights: Week #1 The Art of Framing

I have decided to make Thursday nights, Rummage Bin nights. It is where I will go back to my very first sets that were released in January and work my way up to the new sets/stamps and have a little project to share with you each week. A special thanks to the folks at Cornish Heritage Farms for believing in me and giving me a shot at designing!

WEEK #1: The Art of Framing

Concept Behind the Set: This set was designed so that you could stamp your frame, and then your sentiment within. And of course, you can use the words on their own. I also was able to add little images and those are what I am showing you tonight, how to use those little stamps. The quarter circle in the bottom left corner can come poking out behind pictures, be stamped in a corner, or be stamped 4 times to make a circle. In the card below, I stamped it 3 times, to come peeking out behind my Grungeboard heart. There is also that itty bitty stamp, which I stamped across the aqua paper for more interest.

Project: 6 x 6 Valentine's Card

1. Prepare 6 x 6 card with dotted paper, ink edges with light brown ink.


2. Hand cut a heart out of Grungeboard and ink with Adirondack Cranberry or similar. Ink the raised pattern with Ranger Distress Ink (Walnut Stain). Set aside.


3. Take a 6 inch strip of paper and stamp the small O image in a row. Glue down in center of card.


4. Adhere Prima black lace with Zip Dry glue or alternative.


5. Place your heart down in the center and trace the top left portion. Remove and stamp your quarter circle image 3 times around your traced line.


6. Glue down heart and adhere flowers, photo anchor, stickers, buttons, quote, etc...

CHF Challenge Chicks! A Green Challenge...

This week, the girls have decided to GO GREEN.  We are recycling stuff around the house and re-purposing them.  I decided to take this little gift box that was black and dress it up with Basic Grey Paper, CHF's Dots and Circles Backgrounder, and The Shoe Boutique image.  I coloured the image with Copic Markers and distressed the whole thing with my favourite product, Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  All in all, this was an easy project and I like the end result.  I might use it for my vintage finds, like old beads, etc.

A Sketch For You....

I designed this simple sketch for CHF and our bi-weekly sketch challenge. I was able to dig up these older photos and put them to good use! This is my son, 3 years ago, as a ring bearer.


I love that Fancy Pants paper, cut out and placed in the top right corner and the bottom. And those Prima crystals!!! A must have. I cut them up and use little bits of bling here and there.

CHF Challenge Chicks! A Food Challenge...

This week, we chose to be inspired by our favourite food! Well....I don't have it too often, but when I get to the local carnival, I can't resist COTTON CANDY! This card also shows you a sneak peek of the new ELVIS stamp coming out at CHF this week! It is pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself. Also used here is the newest backgrounder, Hexagon Tiles.

Loving this Prima Paper!

I was just in my local scrapbook store (Forever Scrapbooks) and ended buying this Prima Paper, double sided. The bird is dressed in the opposite side of the burgundy paper. The lace was also found at the LSS, and is made by Prima. I think I might have to go back and buy some more! At Scrapfest, I picked up the bird on a chain with some other shapes from Maya Road - also loving these.

I own the perfect stamps for this paper too! They are the newly released "Big Inspiration" stamps from CHF. I made an altered tin using this paper and the inspiration stamps and it turned out gorgeous. The "life's journey" is a rub-on from Making Memories, I bought it a while ago and have hardly used them, so I was happy to use OLD product.

All Star Girl

I am loving orange these days, anything that can make a layout pop! Especially in an on-line gallery, the brighter the colour, the better. This was a quick layout using some new Pink Paislee die cuts and We R Memory Keepers paper, and My Mind's Eye paper. And the base paper is Scenic Route. Stamps are from Kim Hughes Set - Supah Star!

One of my favourite products these days - American Crafts Thickers! They just keep coming out with better fonts! I used chocolate brown letters for GIRL.
